Songs of Community & Connection
Led by Sinead O’Mahoney
Tuesday, Nov. 10, 7-9 p.m.
With togetherness as the central theme, visiting director and candidate for Mystic music director, Sinead O’Mahoney will teach a selection of songs from three traditions. Teaching by ear and from a score, her moving program for the evening will include the the modern spiritual, “Better Is One Day“; a medley of lively Croation love songs, “Maramica na stazi/Cija li je taraba“; and the enchanting classic American folksong, “How Can I Keep From Singing.” Magda Sharff will be Sinead’s accompanist on both piano and accordion.
Meet Our Workshop Leader
Sinead is co-director of Village Harmony’s long-standing community choir, Boston Harmony. She is an experienced music educator, teaching at all levels, currently enjoying a stint at First Parish in Arlington as a choral scholar. She has traveled widely with Village Harmony, studying the folk music of many cultures and earned a master’s in choral conducting from Boston University.
